Early Years Nursery-K2 (2-5) Primary PYP1 -PYP5 (Gr.1-Gr.5) (6-11)
All Early Years and Primary students study through the IB Primary Years Programme with a focus on Inquiry-led learning. All classes have a qualified teacher with PYP training and a Teaching Assistant (TA). The early childhood years is an important time in the life of a family and a very influential time for children as they start on the road to learning. Children of this age are naturally curious and interested in the world around them. A time of extraordinary cognitive, emotional and physical growth, combined with an excellent early childhood program, sets the foundation for continuous learning and respectful social relationships.
Our Early Childhood Education program aims to promote the physical, intellectual and emotional development of each child according to his or her abilities in a developmentally appropriate environment.
We foster their curiosity to explore their community and nature, and we encourage them to ask questions, learn of the world and of themselves. Above all, we inspire their desire to learn.
Children practice cooperation and interpersonal skills while playing, exploring and taking part in age-appropriate activities that address their developmental needs and interests.
This experience must be a process of establishing trust with parents and teachers so children can become independent as they grow in their confidence to interact with the world. We want children to feel safe to explore a new environment, new materials and new relationships. Children need to feel valued when others listen to them and learn that what they say and do is important and has an effect on others.
At CAIS, educating citizens of the world begins at Early Years. We offer an integrated, bilingual program for children from 2 to 5 years old. Our educational program promotes children’s abilities to think, learn and care about others and nature. Children have opportunities to learn and explore in ways that respond to their needs and interests.
CAIS is a bilingual, international school. Children learn English and Chinese in a natural, pleasant setting. Our transdisciplinary units of inquiry integrate our English and Chinese Programs enabling students to question, discover, share and develop higher order thinking in both languages.
